OUR PRODUCTS - Electric Motors - electric propulsion systems for air-planes
April 2010
We are started the first small series of EMRAX motors for known buyers, which are planning to by higer quote of the motors per year. So the motors will get added tests on different option of mounting and on different specific conditions. In the end of May we will start to accepting the orders for individual customers too. The price of BLDC EMRAX motors are the simillar to the same powered brush motors. Let ask us about the price list by e-mail:
PACKING BOX
December - April 2009/2010
The lightest, high powered
EMRAX direct drive electric motors are redy forindividual /serial production. Also we can
design special options of EMRAX motors for lower or higher voltage, for lower or higer RPM in the same
housing, which can be modificated, for different power, torque. The standard motor weight only 11kg. Emrax motors 50 kWp 1 min; 40 kWp 2 min; 30 kW continious at 1900 RPM. At higer voltage can achieve up to 60 kW/3000 RPM at the same Amps-torque.
We achieve our goal - the tested electric motor can drive 40 kW with existed batteries on my own glider plane EA1. So this is the maximum power, which is depends on the existent batteries in the plane EA1. The temperature at the power 38 kW / 1950 RPM was only 63*C after 2 min of running. Max operating temperature could be up to 140*C. This means that the motor can drive up to 60 kW easily for one minute. The magnets can achive the temperature up to 140*C std - option up to180*C special. Efficientsy is 92% at 30 kW continious power / 2000 RPM at air speed 20 m/sec. The point of the best efficient 94% depends on of the optimum performance (especially at the higer RPM). Our experiences show us that we can expect the same results on the water cooled type of EMRAX 2. So we made some sample tests on liquid cooled EMRAX 2 in the firm Piktronik - Dec 2009 to January 2010. The results are the same as Air Cooled motor. Water flow is 0,2 l/sec/ 35 deg C. New EMRAX 222 motor-generator is suitable for Airplanes, Boats, EV, Power Plant, windmills and other aplications.
Movies about the tests can find on the Gallery site - EA and on you tube:
Some options of mounting the EMRAX 2 electric motors: Duplex version can give double performance.
TECHNICAL DATA
Special design of product, technology and
shape of construction of the motors (air and liquid colled) have got a
patent in April 2010 No: 201000114
GRAPHS
This are the first tests with sensorless SAC 40 Piktronik's controller at 2000 RPM on the motor. Switching frequency is 7,5 Kz. The parameters on SAC 40 are hven't in to the best positions yet. We expect from our new controller better results. The new controller will have hall sensors "RLS" which can also controll each position on the motor shaft - as example: It can hold the propeller on the vertical position to put it in to the fuselage betwen flying. The new controller will be finish and tested soon.
November 2009
September 2009:
The last prototyps electric motors EMRAX are comming.
EMRAX MOTORS 30kWconst/50kWp2min (dia 222mm / long 78 mm - 11 kg)
High powered EMRAX1 220 is a prototype, which is air cooled and weight only 10 kg. It have been mounted on Electric plane EA1 and tested many times. The results are excellent. Very high efficient, low noice, direct drive, low RPM with high torque, low weight. Constant power - 3kW/kg. Peak power for two min is 4.0 kW/kg The plane can take off for distance of 90 m (8 sec) and excellent climbs up to 5 m/sec at power 30 kW/1900 RPM. Propeller diameter is 1,7m.
On AERO 2009 - Friderichshafen we presented our new generation od low-weight and high-powered electric
engines. The engines were one of the major attractions of the
exhibition and the novelty which probably attracted the most attention
from the visitors. They
have seen many demonstrations how the rotation with the new electric
motor EMRAX2 on EA1 real drive the new wing tip propeller. During presentation we give them a pleasant surprise. They were amazed about the sillence and no vibrations.
New EA2 The electric motor EMRAD1 was tested and it is redy to build on Electric Apis EA2. The test results are the same as I expected.
- the motor with new bigger propeller 1,8 m run up to 1700 RPM . - battery power 31,5KW ( efficient on EM and controller reduced the power on EM shaft - propeller) - motor shaft power is 28,00 KW ( constant power at air cooling - speed 25 m/sec ) -
Static prop. thrust is 1250 N ( excellent for very short take off ( 70
m ) and climb 5m/s up to 200m - safe altitude) , than I preffer to
reduce the power because of the battery C rating - I wish to save a
long battery cycle life. Even the producer garantie 5C constant rating
for 800 cycles, I think that is better to run continious up to 3C peak
5C and do half discharging.

The
Lynch brush motor with reduct drive is history now for my sail plane
aplication. (If someone wish to buy it I can offer it for a good price
included the controller). I have got many experiance on BLDC motors so I made an another one much lighter and full powered electric motor for my exist Electric Apis EA1. The motor named EMRAX. It weight only 10,2kg
- The motor with old propeller 1,7 m run up to 1750 RPM . - at battery power 30,00KW - motor shaft power is 20,00 KW ( constant power at air speed 25 m/sec ), peak shaft power can reach up to 27 KW ( 2 min ) -
Static prop thrust is 1000 N ( excellent for short take off and climb 4m - 5 m/s up to
200m - safe altitude) , than I preffer to reduce power because of battery
C rating - I wish to save the battery cycle life. - The motor has own direct air cooling, so it could be suitable for other aplications up to 16 KW constant power at 1800 RPM.

An
Electric Apis EA1 will be redy for flight in next few weeks. I remade
power propulsion system with new BLDC - EMRAX and aded some LIPO cells
to get bigger voltage and more energy inside 8,00 KWh - this is enough
for many take offs or climb more than 3000m. Also the horisontal
traveling is very efficienty because excelent motor torque has wide
range of RPM. flight can lasted 1,5 hours or horisontal flying up to
200 km.
Remaked
controller for electro motor. Here are included charger for the main
battery and above is auxiliary pover system 13,5V - input power from
the main battery
Integration
of electric propulsion system into double sits aircraft
ELECTRO TAURUS (ET)
I have had many experience on Apis Electro. SoI decided
to cooperate on new double siter ET glider project - with firm PIPISTREL
- Slovenia.
To be able to make vision a reality we (the home had firm Pipistrel, Sineton, Piktronik and my firm Enstroj ) need to modify the
existing Taurus aircraft for the application of the electric-based propulsion.
The AE2 will contain the new lighter and more effective electric propulsion system. - New high efficienty brushless electric motor - New modificated controller for EM - Storage battery energy 8,0 KWh - instead present 6,0 KWh energy on AE1 - bigger 1,8m more effective propeller. - Simple and lighter pylon actuator
Complet
propulsion system with all included parts ( batteries with auto cells
ballancer, electric motor, pylon, actuator, propeller, controller,
charger, wires) will have the same weight ( 79 kg ) as electric
propulsion system on AE1.
